JAZZ A BICHON

Fired by a shared enthusiasm for the dance music of the 1920s and early 1930s, the five piece Jazz à Bichon got together in 2009 to breathe new life into lesser-known or forgotten gems of the period, with particular emphasis on big-band repertoire arranged for the group’s own line-up.

Critical acclaim was not long in coming, with sell-out appearances in 2011 and 2014 at Marciac, France’s premier jazz fest, as well as first prize at the Megève International Festival. The band has a regular roster of club dates in France and abroad, alternating with bookings at major classic jazz festivals.

Whether it’s music by iconic figures such as Fletcher Henderson and Clarence Williams or rarities by the more obscure Goofus Five, New Orleans Owls or Halfway House Orchestra, or unknown numbers of radio-bands of the20’s the members of Jazz à Bichon bring the same level of affection and infectious commitment to everything they play. They hope to share it with you some time soon.
